Well, things are pretty steady at this point. I haven’t lost any more inches, but I haven’t gained any either. Last Monday was a write-off, since we were once again hit with another snow storm. Boxing was cancelled. I did spend half an hour shoveling, so at least I got some exercice! I went to the gym on Tuesday with a guy I used to date almost a decade ago. It was the first time I had seen him in a couple of years. He was out of shape and had gained some weight. We talked a lot about nutrition and exercise and that’s when I knew his idea of what to do to stay healthy was warped. He had gained weight after messing up his wrist. Instead of going to the gym and doing cardio, he gave up, overate constantly and drank beer. We were on the Stairclimber for about 20 minutes that day. When I was done after the 20 min, he wasn’t finished yet and didn’t even want to finish although he was a minute short of completing the 20 min! Completely unmotivated. I know this may sound bad, but it made me feel proud of my own motivation since I began this journey. Knowing that I don’t give up and that I want this more than anything. Wednesday, I went to boxing for my regular 2 hours. On Thursday, I had my dance class. I hadn’t been there in 2 weeks because of the weather (and it was cancelled). Luckily, I’ll be able to go this week. They are forecasting horrible weather for the next couple of days and I was supposed to drive 45 minutes to another city to get part 2 of my gum grafting surgery. I’m going to phone them tomorrow and see what they say. If possible, I’ll have to reschedule, since I’m not going to risk my life to get dental surgery! That means, I’ll be able to do some physical activity this week, including dance! Friday, I went to the gym with S. We took our time, worked out and got caught up on each other’s lives. It was nice to have my gym buddy back, even if it was just for a day!
I’m sorry I haven’t been able to blog, but a few things put a wrench in my wheels… First of all, I caught the dreaded flu last Wednesday, then my laptop was not working properly. Just got it back today, so I figured that I would update my blog.
Here it is! The day before Valentine’s Day, we had a school dance. Yes, I did end up dancing – kind of hard not too with the little kids coaxing you to join them!
Last Monday was the regular routine, boxing for a couple of hours, Tuesday was the gym, Wednesday was another gruelling 2 hour session, then the flu set in. With that came a lovely winter storm, which cancelled my dance class. I was not in any shape to dance anyway. Friday was also not a great day for me health-wise. I ended up staying home. I was also sick on Saturday. Sunday night, my favorite night of the year was finally here – the OSCARS! My usual treat was to get some fatty KFC/Dixie Lee, complete with fries and gravy, but my brother advised me to get some Subway instead. So, I compromised: KFC chicken, but with rice. I didn’t feel well that night and was sick again. Either traces of the flu were still with me or my body was literally rejecting the fat! LOL! Unfortunately, there was no way I could get to boxing on Monday, since we had a 48 cm snowfall and the roads were tretcherous that night. I did end up shoveling for half an hour though! Today was my first time working out since last Wednesday, so took it easy at the gym tonight. Tomorrow I’m back to my routine of boxing. Can’t wait! I’ve missed it!
Okay, so tonight in the usual routine of going to pick up a few groceries, I stopped by my favorite store in the mall – Reitman’s. I know the girls there and they treat me like royalty when I enter the store. Big hugs and greetings! One of the girls had gone to work at the one in the city, but has made it back to the small town store that I frequent. She helped me pick out some clothes to try on (trying on clothes doesn’t hurt!). She commented on how great I looked and how much smaller I was since the last time she worked at the store. It’s funny how I still saw myself as “size 10″, but she was getting me size 6 skirts. I told her they wouldn’t fit. AS IF! She picked out some size small shirts and I looked at her in disbelief. So, in I went and tried on these pieces I thought would never fit. WELL… was I wrong! The size 6 skirt was too big and she had to find me a SIZE 4! I couldn’t believe it!!! Boy, was that a reward in itself! I’m so happy and proud of myself that I bought a skirt (not the size 4, but another one) and a cute little top to go with it. I’d rather reward myself with clothes than food, like I used to.
